Over 65 countries’ to attend Angola’s 50 years of Independence celebrations

Luanda – Representatives of roughly 70 countries, especially Heads of State are to be invited to attend the celebrations of Angola’s 50th anniversary of National Independence to be marked on November 11, 2025.

The information was disclosed Thursday in Luanda by the Minister of State and head of the President Civil Office, Adão de Almeida, on the sidelines of the extraordinary meeting of the Cabinet Council, which assessed the celebrative program of the 50th anniversary of National Independence.

According to Adão de Almeida, approximately 8,000 people are expected to participate in the central event, underlining that with this activity, the government understands that there must be a great day of national mobilization, where all national citizens are invited to make a deep reflection on the 50 years of life of the independent country and on the future that it intends to build.

The official explained that the general program foresees 115 activities of the state's central administration and that the highest point should occur on November 11, 2025, when a speech by the Angolan Head of State, João Lourenço will be made.

A parade is also scheduled with the participation of Angolan citizens from other segments of society, as well as personnel from the three branches of the Angolan Armed Forces (Army, Air Force and Navy) and the National Police.

For the anniversary celebrations, tributes (decorations) will be made for Angolans who over the 50 years have contributed to the achievement and maintaining independence and peace.

The Council of Ministers, meeting under the guidance of the President of the Republic, João Lourenço, assessed, this Thursday, in Luanda, the general program of celebrations commemorating the 50th anniversary of National Independence.

With the festivities of the 50th anniversary of national independence, which will take place under the motto "Angola 50 Years: Preserving and Valuing the Achievements, Building a Better Future", with the aim to praise the historical journey of the Angolan people and the  achievements achieved in the last five decades, in the military and political-diplomatic domains.

It also aims to recognize the achievements reached by the Angolan people, in the sporting, social and cultural spheres, the values ​​of national unity and cohesion, democracy, patriotism, humanism and solidarity. AFL/ART/TED/AMP
