Dundo - Corruption, impunity, embezzlement and local power governments were the central themes of the speeches made by MPLA leaders in the East and North regions of the country as part of the party's 64th anniversary festivities.

The problem of local authorities was one of the most highlighted by the MPLA provincial secretaries in Lunda Norte, Lunda Sul, Moxico, Cabinda, Cuanza Norte, Bengo, Malanje, Uige and Zaire, during the political acts marking the event, which took place on 10 December.

In the various speeches, the party leaders also spoke to militants on the issue of the 2022 general elections, assuming that these issues will be at the top of the party's agenda in the coming years.

In Lunda Sul, the party's provincial secretary, Daniel Neto, called on the militants not to accommodate themselves but instead strengthening the actions of mobilisation and recruitment of new members, especially young people, for the maintenance of power and the conquest of local power government in the four municipalities of the region.

He also encouraged the government to continue with the reforms underway in the country, mainly economic one, with a view to consolidating a new Angola, where transparency, fair competition in business and a more favourable environment for foreign investment prevail.

The second provincial secretary of MPLA in Lunda Norte, Fernando Quindji, appealed to the youth of the party and not only to bet on training, to better understand the political phenomena and / or socio-economic changes in the country.

He called for continued support for the government's efforts to counter the Covid-19 pandemic, underlining the need to intensify mobilization campaigns in the communities on prevention and combat measures.

In Moxico, Gonçalves Muandumba, first secretary of the party, called on the population to denounce the bad public servants in order to help the State to fight corruption.

Norberto dos Santos "Kwata Kanawa", the first secretary of the party in Malanje, stressed that the MPLA wants to see its structures renewed, in order to give new impetus to the work of governance, develop the country and improve the living conditions of the citizens.

In Cabinda, the party's first secretary, Marcos Nhunga, called on militants, especially those with a prominent role in the public administration, to redouble their actions, to be creative and innovative, in order to fulfil the electoral promises of 2017.

In the province of Uige, the MPLA warned young people "not to be manipulated with speeches that incite disagreement, hatred, division amongst Angolans and false promises.

The appeal was made by the party's first acting secretary, Pedro Augusto Conga, who invited the youth to a permanent dialogue with the authorities, with the aim of identifying short, medium and long-term solutions to the various problems, especially the issue of employment.

For his part, the party secretary in Zaire, Pedro Makita, reiterated that the political and economic reforms underway in the country aim to consolidate the Democratic State and the Rule of Law and ensure an Angola where rights and freedoms are exercised on the basis of the Law and the diversification of the economy.

In this new cycle of governance, the MPLA demands from its members and militants an honest attitude and commitment to the common good, which will serve as an anchor for the moralization of society.

The first secretary in Bengo, Mara Quiosa, described the MPLA as "the guarantor of social and economic stability, given the experience accumulated by its cadres, who can ensure, for instance, the functioning of the local power government after its implementation".

She exhorted the militants to engage in the tasks inherent to the qualitative and quantitative growth of the party, within the framework of the "M+2" project, mobilising more and more citizens to join the party, in power since 1975.

The provincial secretary in Cuanza Norte, Adriano Mendes de Carvalho, noted that the fight against corruption, nepotism and impunity would in the future provide the socio-economic development of the country and the common welfare of Angolans.

He reiterated that actions to fight corruption were allowing for the removal of many vices that, for years, had sickened society and resulted in the squandering of the treasury.
