Luanda - Election candidates were out Tuesday (02) on the hunt for vote, during which the contending political parties came out with their governance proposals for the upcoming elections set for August 24.

The tenth day of their campaign was marked by rallies, marches and door-to-door mobilisation, with candidates pledging to improve living conditions.

PHA

In Ondjiva, southern Cunene province, the Humanist Party of Angola (PHA) defined direct contact with voters in what it described it as a strategy to garner the highest possible number of votes in the general elections on 24 August.

The strategy foresees door-to-door campaigns in markets, taxi ranks and other places of highest population density.

In its ten-minute airtime on Angola National Radio station, PHA promised to focus on women vendors in the informal sector.

P-NJANGO

The leader of the Nationalist Party for Justice in Angola (P-NJANGO), Eduardo Jonatão “Dinho” Chingunji, said that his party is a moderate one and is in favour of a combined effort to solve society's problems.

During ten-minute airtime on RNA, Chingunji  said that his party opposes extreme positions but backs moderation with exchange of  ideas.

UNITA

Empowering women in matters related to entrepreneurship for the promotion of self-employment is one of the measures to be implemented by UNITA in the five-year period 2022/2027, if it becomes a Government.

The the party promised to grant a maternity benefit and build a public nursery school to support for families in the communities.

In Bié province, since Sunday, UNITA´s candidate for President of the Republic, Adalberto Costa Júnior, has planned to meet Wednesday with voters during a mass rally. Similar events have taken place in Benguela, Huambo, Cunene and Huila provinces.

The party also held a door-to-door campaign in the municipality of Lóvua in Lunda Norte province.

FNLA

The president Nimi Simbi on Tuesday called on his party´s militants to refrain from any acts of political intolerance.

In a speech delivered in Mbanza Kongo, northern Zaire province, the FNLA leader reiterated his party’s commitment to peace and social harmony.

The former president of FNLA Ngola Kabango announced on Tuesday the construction of a memorial to honour the party’s founding father, Holden Roberto.

Ngola Kabango said so during the ceremony marking the 15th anniversary of Holden Roberto´s death, held at his tomb.

CASA-CE

CASA-CE leader Manuel Fernandes visited Tuesday Kikolo and Kwanzas markets, in Luanda, during which he clarified the policies of his governance plan, based on ethics, honesty, transparency, professionalism and patriotism as structural pillars of all governmental action.

In Bié province, the coalition started training for the trainers of the future delegates of the lists, bringing together, in a first phase, 25 members.

APN

The National Patriotic Alliance (APN) party has intensified its campaign in recent days in northern Zaire province, where its president, Quintino Moreira, and his colleagues conveyed the position of the political organisation in the ballot paper.

PRS

PRS in Lunda Norte province on Tuesday began training of 446 delegates, aimed to contribute to a transparent and impartial in the polls.

The participants will learn, among other things, subjects on voter´s guide, the rights and duties of the delegates, notions of polling stations and of the vote counting. They will pass on this experience to others who will work as delegates.

The PRS candidate for President of the Republic, Benedito Daniel, promised in Luma-Cassai commune, Dala municipality (Lunda Sul), to continue the social cash transfer programme (Kwenda), an initiative of the Executive.

MPLA

MPLA promised to re-evaluate the public sector’s remuneration
system, in order to make the workers’ salaries more compatible, said Tuesday, in Luanda, Manuel Nunes Júnior, member of the Political
Bureau.

This plan is part of MPLA’s governing programme for the 2022-2027 period, which will be implemented if the party wins the general election on the 24th
of August.

The MPLA´s head of the list, João Lourenço, travelled to the province of Lunda Norte Tuesday where he will deliver his speech on Wednesday, ahead of the ongoing campaign.

The ruling party’s vice president Luísa Damião said on Tuesday in Ondjiva (Cunene) that her party proposed to promote the balanced development of Angola and of human capital, by increasing access to health and education services.

Luísa Damião, who was speaking at a mass political event, said that the focus of MPLA´s governance programme for 2022 to 2027, if it wins the elections, is on man as the country's main wealth, to the detriment of natural resources.
