Luanda – Doing the countingdown to the official end of the electoral campaign (Monday) marking the 29th day, the political forces which are competing for Wednesday´s (24 August) elections called for peace and a conscious vote.

Overall, the promises to change the country´s current paradigm maintained with improvement in the citizens living conditions, creation of jobs, increasing the education and health quality, on a day marked by religious acts and the closing of the campaign by some political forces.

 MPLA

The first secretary of the ruling MPLA party in Uige Province, José Carvalho da Rocha, appealed to the population to continue promoting a culture of peace, unity and patriotism, in order to ensure success in general elections on 24 August, Wednesday.

Speaking on the sidelines of an ecumenical service in favour of the general elections, promoted by several local churches, he stressed the importance of preserving peace and promoting social well-being.

UNITA

The provincial secretary of the National Union for the Total Independence of Angola (UNITA) in Benguela, Adriano Abel Sapinãla, expressed optimism that his party would win the ballot on 24 August.

Speaking at a mass political event, at 1° de Maio Square, in Catumbela, he considers this election a historic opportunity for Angola to have, for the first time, change of political power.

CASA-CE

The President of the Broad Convergence for the Salvation of Angola - Electoral Coalition (CASA-CE), Manuel Fernandes, said on Sunday, in Luanda, that he sees next Wednesday´s elections as an opportunity for the people to decide who will lead Angola´s destiny in the next five years and not as an “all or nothing” policy.

PRS

The Social Renewal Party advocated the implementation of a policy of decentralisation of the state, as an easier way of solving Angola´s difficulties and developing the country, if it wins the elections.

Speaking at the closing ceremony of the election campaign, in Golfe II neighbourhood, in Luanda, the party´s provincial secretary in the capital, Novais Samungole, said that his political organisation is working to mobilise voters so that they can opt for a system of government different from the current one.

P-NJANGO

The presidential candidate of the Nationalist Party for Justice in Angola, Eduardo Chingunji, in Huambo Province, said he calls for peaceful and orderly elections for the consolidation of democracy.

The party leader, who was speaking at the closing rally event of the electoral campaign, said that the political party would not embrace any illicit behaviour after Wednesday´s ballot and that it supports peaceful transition.

FNLA

The National Front for the Liberation of Angola (FNLA) had no political action of impact in the afternoon as it closed its electoral campaign in Malanje Province.

PHA

The Humanist Party of Angola (PHA) called for voting and reflection on the implementation of its governance programme during a political act held in Dunga market, on the outskirts of Uige city.

Led by the party´s local coordinator, Gabriel Muanza, the activity served to hand over credentials to 2,351 delegates on the closing day of the electoral campaign of this political party in that province.

APN

The Patriotic Alliance of Angola (APN) was passive on the penultimate day of the electoral campaign, including in its airtime minutes on Public Television (TPA), and merely repeated the speech of appeal to the vote and its desire to implement in Angola what it considers “true democracy”.
