Luanda - Zimbabwean Parliament Speaker and head of the SADC Election Observation Mission to Angola Jocob Mudenda said on Thursday in Luanda that the environment of peace, which is being witnessed in the campaign, will prevail until the end of the whole electoral process.

Jacob Mudenda, who was speaking to the press at the end of a meeting with the Speaker of the National Assembly, Fernando da Piedade Dias dos Santos, wished Angolan voters all the best.

He appealed to the Media for transparency and fairness in the electoral coverage.

He considered the "press crucial for this whole process, calling for an independent and impartial coverage.

The head of the Observer Mission expressed satisfaction that the Angolan authorities had created all the conditions necessary for the mission to carry out its work with dignity.

He also said that they had taken good note the National Electoral Commission (CNE) had scheduled meetings with all the electoral observation missions in Angola.

Asked about a possible challenging of the election results, the Zimbabwean Speaker resorted to the African Union Protocol, which encourages the acceptance of the results of the elections.

He ruled out a possible contest of results after, for example, the team of observers declare the elections free, fair, transparent and credible.

The National Assembly invited 50 entities to observe to monitor the August 24 elections in Angola.

They include members of the Community of the Portuguese Speaking Countries (CPLP), the Southern African Development Community (SADC), the Organisation of American States, as well as representatives of political parties at the regional level.
