Luanda - Contrary to recent days, the deployment in mass events of the presidents of the political forces competing for the 24 August elections was hardly visible on Monday, as the parties continued their campaign across the country with various players, especially in door-to-door mobilization compaign.

The leaders of the three traditional parties (MPLA, UNITA and FNLA) were not in action today (23rd day of the campaign), while the others carried out various activities to “hunt for voters” across the country.

PHA

The Humanist Party of Angola (PHA) has announced that if it forms a government, it will eliminate Value Added Tax (VAT).

The outlook of the only political party led by a woman in the 24 August ballot was issued on its ten minutes of airtime on Angola National Radio station and she said that it will also eliminate the Labour Income Tax (LIT) and the Property Tax (IP), as well as the inheritance and donation tax and tax exclusion.

According to some economists these promises by the humanist party are not practicable.

P-NJANGO

The leader of the Nationalist Party for Justice in Angola (P-NJANGO), Eduardo Chingunji, worked in the Province of Cuanza Norte, where he reaffirmed the strengthening of essential services to improve the living standards and greater dignity of Angolans.

At a rally event, the politician promised to prioritise investment in education, health and housing, as he considers them essential areas.

APN

The head of National Patriotic Alliance (APN), Quintino Moreira, promised to develop Uíge Province, with the return of Mavoio mine and coffee exportation.

Speaking during the party´s ten minutes of airtime on RNA station the candidate said he also intends to increase the number of satellite cities in the country to guarantee access to housing for young Angolans, in case of winning the elections.

UNITA

After having closed Sunday, in Moxico Province its tour in the east of the country, UNITA candidate, Adalberto Costa Júnior, travelled Monday to Cuanza Norte, where he will continue Tuesday his campaign in an attempt to convince the voting citizens.

In his last intervention in Moxico, the UNITA candidate reiterated the need for voters to cast their votes in an orderly and organised manner, having advised militants to consult in advance the places where they will vote, to avoid constraints on the day.

FNLA

The National Front for the Liberation of Angola (FNLA) reinforced in the municipality of Dundo, Lunda Norte Province, the fight against hunger, by investing in family farming and self-employment, with incentives to entrepreneurship.

Kiaku Kiala, secretary-general of the party´s youth, made the pledge at a mass rally, during which he also spoke of academic and technical-vocational training and the promotion of manufacturing industry, as well as the “transformation of Lunda Norte into a major food producer, with emphasis on cereals”.

CASA-CE

The only coalition of parties in the country, CASA-CE, met with the Spanish ambassador, Manuel Lajarreta, and experts from the European Union (EU) with whom Manuel Fernandes assessed issues related to the electoral process.

Speaking to press, Manuel Fernandes, leader of the coalition, said he had asked the EU experts to monitor the Angolan process and draw up a consistent report with Angolan reality.

PRS

The Social Renewal Party (PRS) has started the accreditation of 68 delegates in Bengo Province, for the elections, a process that will be extended on Tuesday to the municipalities of Dembos, Bula Atumba and Pango Aluquém.

Speaking to ANGOP, the PRS secretary in Bengo, José dos Santos, said that 75 delegates have already been accredited in the municipality of Ambriz and 100 in Nambuangongo.

MPLA

With the president on a rest day, the party´s mobilization activities continued in the different provinces of the country, with emphasis on Moxico, where the local first secretary, Gonçalves Muandumba, said that MPLA intends to transform the municipality of Alto Zambeze into an important rice, wheat and soya production centre, if it wins the elections.

In order to implement this programme in the region, which is rich in rice and maize production, the party plans to soon start work to complete the 179-kilometre Luau/Cazombo road, for which a contract has been awarded.
