Luanda - Angola's Foreign Affairs minister Téte António reaffirmed Sunday that the country will continue to play its important role in the peace process in Africa, particularly in the Great Lakes Region, Southern African Development Community (SADC), West Africa, Central Africa and the Gulf of Guinea.

In a message on the celebration of Angolan Diplomats' Day, the minister reiterated Angola's commitment to a policy of peace diplomacy, through conflict prevention and resolution mechanisms, permanent dialogue and the promotion of bilateral cooperation with neighboring countries, based on the principles of equality, reciprocal advantages and respect for sovereignty.

"Angola will continue to develop its foreign policy based on the principles of respect and equality between states, the peaceful resolution of conflicts, cooperation between peoples, progress and social justice," reads  the message.

The minister added that Angola will continue to implement the strategy of promoting its inclusion in the international context and taking the greatest advantage of international cooperation to always and increasingly raise the quality of life of the Angolan people.

Téte António reaffirmed that the Angolan government is conducting a diplomacy aimed at attracting private foreign investment to help diversify the national economy, having encouraged all diplomats to contribute effectively and efficiently.

Angola continues on the path of consolidating its democracy and economic growth, the minister said, underlining that these are indispensable aspects for solving the most pressing problems of the population and to make the country an international benchmark.

Téte António took the opportunity to pay tribute to the figures who have distinguished themselves by serving with a spirit of mission, selflessness and dedication so that Angola can achieve peace, unity and stability.

The minister added that the Ministry he runs will continue with the reforms underway for a more active and assertive diplomacy, the staff qualification and rejuvenation programme, among other actions. FMA/VM/AMP
