Luanda - Angola reassured its commitment in the search for peaceful and constructive solutions to the challenges to peace and conflict resolution in the member countries of the International Conference on the Great Lakes Region (ICGLR).

Angola's commitment was reaffirmed on Friday night in Luanda by the head of the Africa, Middle East and Regional Organisations Directorate, Miguel Bembe.

At the end of the meeting of the National Coordinators of the ICGLR, Miguel Bembe said that the Angolan State bets on the implementation of the pact and the regional protocols, aiming at a bigger democracy and regional security.

In his capacity as acting president of the National Coordinators of that sub-regional organization, Angolan Miguel Bembe encouraged the member-states to promote an efficient and democratic political-administrative organization.

He stressed the need for the political-administrative organization in the countries of the ICGLR to ensure the provision of basic services to its citizens and to extend the authority of the State throughout their respective territories.

For Miguel Bembe, it is fundamental to rebuild the sub-regional economy so that the populations can take advantage of their wealth, the multiple opportunities of a more integrated regional market and better access to international markets.

During two days of work and exchange of experiences, the National Coordinators of the ICGLR analysed, among other aspects, the level of implementation of the Security, Stability and Development Pact in the region and the functioning of the organisation's Secretariat.

Members of the ICGLR are, besides Angola, Burundi, Central African Republic, Democratic Republic of Congo, Sudan, South Sudan, Tanzania, Rwanda, Uganda, Zambia, Kenya and Republic of Congo.
