Luanda – Angola will take over the rotating presidency of the Plenary Assembly of the International Conference on the Great Lakes Region Parliamentary Forum (ICGLR-PF) for the 2025-2026 period, during the 15th Ordinary Session of the organisation, to happen from 25 to 30 April, in Luanda.
The event’s organising committee held a meeting this Monday, under the guidance of the National Assembly Speaker, Carolina Cerqueira, to analyse administrative, technical and logistical matters.
Speaking to the press, the spokesman of the commission, MP Pedro Sebastião, informed that it was approved the work plan and it was set up the working teams, aimed at the success of the event.
He disclosed that Angola has submitted its candidacy to host the Plenary Assembly, in Luanda, adding that the event will happen at a difficult moment, since the region is still faced with armed conflicts, such as those in Sudan, the East of the DR Congo, and the Central African Republic.
The ICGLR-PF is an inter-parliamentary organisation made up of the parliaments of the organisation’s 12 member states, namely Angola, Burundi, Republic of Congo, Central African Republic, D.R Congo, Kenya, Rwanda, Sudan, South sudan, Uganda, Tanzania and Zambia.
Currently, the organisation’s rotating presidency is occupied by Zambia’s Parliament Speaker, Nelly Mutti.
