Luanda - Angola will participates, this Saturday, in the XXIV Ordinary Session of the Conference of Heads of State and Government of the Economic Community of Central African States (ECCAS), taking place in the capital of Equatorial Guinea, Malabo.
According to a press release to which ANGOP had access today, Angola is being represented by the head of diplomacy, Téte António, representing the President of the Republic, João Lourenço.
The meeting was called to analyze the reports from the president of the ECCAS Commission on the activities carried out in 2023, on the political and security situation in the region and the detailed report from the Council of Ministers.
The document states that the ECCAS Heads of State and Government will also be informed about the reports of the facilitators of the ongoing transition processes in Chad and Gabon, and about the status of implementation of the decisions of the V Extraordinary Session of the Council for Peace and Security in Central African (COPAX) on the political situation in Gabon.
The Summit of Heads of State and Government is the COPAX's supreme body and has full powers in all areas, namely, in defining common policies and appropriate measures to prevent and resolve disputes and conflicts that could threaten peace, security and stability within the community or at its borders.
The application of all forms of intervention in a Member State in accordance with COPAX objectives, principles and missions, such as military, security or peace support operations in the event of serious circumstances, based on relevant international conventions.
It also defines the intervention mandates and the appointment of mission heads and operations commanders, the imposition of sanctions in the event of unconstitutional changes of Government in a Member State and the action plans and approval of the activity reports of the Central African Peace and Security Council.
