Luanda - Angola and Vietnam are to open up new cooperation in the fields of construction, telecommunications, digital transformation and information technology, the head of the Central Propaganda Committee of the Vietnam Communist Party, Nguyen Trong Nghia, announced Monday in Luanda.

Speaking at the end of the audience granted by Angola’s ruling MPLA Secretary General Paulo Pombolo, the Vietnam politician said the two countries would also bolster cooperation, in health, agriculture and education, to aid it to respond to new challenges.

Regarding the meeting, Nguyen Trong Nghia said it served to assess bilateral cooperation between the two parties and countries in the political, economic and social spheres.

The politician emphasized that mutual support during the wars for the liberation of Angola and Vietnam was also discussed, as well as aid in international forums, underlining that the two parties agreed to continue to expand exchanges between the two states and to strengthen cooperation through party and social organizations.

Nguyen Trong Nghia leads a delegation that is in Angola on a three-day working visit.

Angola and Vietnam established diplomatic relations in November 1975 and, three months later, signed a General Cooperation Agreement, an instrument that served as the basis for the opening of various protocols in the Social, Economic and Technical-Scientific areas.

Relations between the two countries are limited to agriculture, health, education and trade. Around 20 private Vietnamese companies operate in Angola. MGM/VIC/AMP
