Baku- Angola and Kyrgyzstan signed on Tuesday a memorandum of understanding on political consultations in Baku, Azerbaijan, which will identify new sectors of cooperation between the two countries.

The agreement signed on the sidelines of the COP29, was witnessed by the Vice-President of the Republic, Esperança da Costa, and signed by the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, Esmeralda Mendonça, and the Minister for Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan, Zheenbek Kulubaev.

According to the memo, the consultations may cover issues such as deepening and expanding political, economic, cultural, technological and consular cooperation, among others.

On the occasion, the Kyrgyz diplomat expressed his country's interest in cooperating with Angola in a wide range of areas.

The diplomat said that during the meeting with the Vice-President of the Republic, issues related to bilateral relations were analyzed, with a view to strengthening the existing friendship.

“Kyrgyzstan is a Central Asian country and is interested in activating our relations with countries on the African continent, Angola being one of the main ones,” the diplomat said, adding that issues such as how to activate relations in terms of political dialogue, trade and tourism.

Kyrgyzstan is a country in Central Asia, a former member of the former Soviet Union. It borders Kazakhstan to the north, Uzbekistan to the west, Tajikistan to the south and China to the east.
