Luanda - Angolan and French authorities addressed on Tuesday, in Luanda, issues linked to strengthening bilateral relations, with a focus on increasing legal agreements that structure partnerships and also exchanging visits at the highest level.

These points were addressed during an audience between the minister of Foreign Affairs, Téte António, and the ambassador of the French Republic, Sophie Aubert.

During the audience, the parties recognized the importance of strengthening the legal bases for consolidating existing areas of cooperation and facilitating new opportunities for exchange, both in the economic field and in the fields of higher education, agriculture, energy and water, transport, telecommunications and basic sanitation.

Angola and France have maintained politico-diplomatic relations for several years, with the first agreement between the two States being signed in 1982, thus laying the foundations for bilateral cooperation.

Over the years, economic cooperation between the two States has been significant and marked by several agreements and partnerships in strategic areas such as energy, infrastructure, transport and agriculture.

One of the main pillars of cooperation is the oil and gas sector, where French companies, such as TotalEnergies, have an important presence in Angola.

TotalEnergies is one of the largest foreign investors in the country, operating mainly in the exploration and production of oil and natural gas.

France is also interested in modernizing Angolan infrastructure, mainly with regard to the construction of roads and railway systems.

With this, partnerships were established for the rehabilitation of essential infrastructures, contributing to the improvement of logistics and transport, in addition to their collabs in the development of the agricultural sector, providing technical assistance and promoting investments aimed at increasing productivity and agricultural diversification.

Another important point in the relationship between Angola and France is the support from this European country in terms of technical training and education, with exchange programs and training for Angolan staff, mainly in the areas of engineering and science.

In the field of finance and investment, the French Government has worked with Angola to encourage foreign direct investment, in addition to offering financial support for the country's economic development and modernization projects.

These points translate a relationship that aims to strengthen economic ties and promote the sustainable development of Angola, while opening opportunities for French companies in the Angolan market.
