Seoul - Angola and South Korea have signed five legal instruments in Seoul to strengthen cooperation between the two countries.

According to Angola Foreign Affairs Minister Téte António, the agreements that have already been identified and finalized are related to trade and industry, public order, health, diplomacy and investment.

Regarding President João Lourenço's 48-hour working visit to Korea, Téte António said it aims at strengthening relations between the two states.

During the visit, the Head of State will have four key moments, namely a meeting with his counterpart Yoon Suk-Yeol, with Korea’s Parliament Speaker, as well as taking part in official talks and the Angola-Korea Business Forum.

The minister said Angola is developing specialized cooperation with the Asian country in the fields of technology, industry and agriculture.

Angolan ambassador to South Korea, Edgar Martins, on his turn said, the Advanced Technology Industrial Centre, is soon to be opened in Luanda, among the various Korean investments.

For the diplomat, the centre budgeted at "several million dollars" will remove many young people from unemployment after training and should be replicated in other regions of Angola.

Regarding the visit by the Head of State, the diplomat said that it would serve to re-launch cooperation, in other words "it will be a turning of the page and the start of a new stage".

In 1993, Angola and the Republic of Korea signed a general cooperation agreement.

During this period, four cooperation agreements, one protocol, five memorandums of understanding and two supplementary agreements were signed, the latter resulting in loans from the Economic Development Cooperation Fund for financing from the Korea Eximbank for projects to be carried out in Angola.
