Catumbela - Angola took over on Thursday the two-year rotating presidency of the Meeting of Labour Ministers of the Community of Portuguese Speaking Countries (CPLP).
The protocol was carried out during the fifteenth meeting of the organisation, in the province of Benguela, in the presence of its Executive Secretary, Manuel Lapão.
Addressing the ceremony, the Minister of State, Family, Inclusion and Social Development of Cabo Verde, Fernando Elisio Freire, highlighted the work done by his country.
He said that Cabo Verde complied with the outlined objectives, despite the constraints caused by Covid-19 pandemic.
Angolan minister of Public Administration, Labour and Social Security, Teresa Rodrigues Dias, pledged Angola’s availability to honour the commitment.
On the sidelines of the event, the minister of Labour, Solidarity and Social Security of Portugal, Ana Mendes Godinho, said that the organisation is working to find solutions to protect the populations of the CPLP.
In turn, the executive secretary of the Ministry of Labour and Employment of Brazil, Francisco Macena da Silva, praised the opening of an International Labour Organisation (ILO) office in Angola, stating that it will facilitate the search for solutions for the processes discussed in the Organisation.
The Deputy Minister of Labour, Employment Promotion and Social Security of Equatorial Guinea, Manuel Cristobal Morgades Ichaca, said that his country's integration into the community is in good progress.
At the end of the meeting, the so-called "Declaration of Benguela" was produced, which reflects the agreements signed by the CPLP Labour ministers.
