Luanda - The National Assembly (AN) is due to discuss and vote on the draft law on crimes of vandalism of public goods and services and changes to the Angolan passport and the regime for the exit and entry of nationals on June 19.
The information was disclosed Wednesday by the first secretary of the AN's Bureau, Manuel Dembo, at the end of the parliamentary leaders' conference, chaired by the AN Speaker Carolina Cerqueira.
The draft defines specific penalties for different types of offences on the subject, with the aim of protecting public investment and the sustainability of services.
The document responds to the need to adopt a specialized legal framework to combat vandalism of public goods and services, taking into account the decisive impact such social phenomena has on the preservation of the national economy and sustainable development.
On the other hand, the draft law to amend the Angolan Passport and the Exit and Entry Regime for Nationals aims to include retired attorneys-general, retired judges’ counselors of the superior courts and retired deputy attorneys-general in the universe of entities benefiting from the diplomatic passport.
Several entities in office receive diplomatic passports, namely former presidents of the Republic and retired presiding judges, leaving out some entities that, although no longer in office, enjoy diplomatic status.
The National Assembly will also vote on the draft resolutions on the creation of an African Court on Human and Peoples' Rights and on the treaty establishing the African Medicines Agency, for Angola's adherence and ratification.DC/VIC /DAN/AMP
