Luanda - The Angolan Women's Association (AMA), the women's organisation of the FNLA, is holding its first congress in Luanda on 28, 29 and 30 November this year to elect its secretary-general.

The conclave will be attended by 301 delegates spread across the national constituencies and provinces, congress spokesperson Carolina Pascoal Miguel told the press on Wednesday.

The party leader revealed that the preparatory commission held ordinary and extraordinary working sessions, where the rules of procedure for the preparatory commission, the rules for formalising candidacies, representation at the congress, the conduct of the electoral campaign, the electoral register and the model of the electoral minutes were discussed and approved, among other things.

She said that the Preparatory Commission had so far not received any applications for the position of secretary-general of the FNLA women's organisation.

Carolina Miguel made it known that the Preparatory Commission is currently working on discussing and approving preliminary drafts of the statutes, the disciplinary regulations and receiving and finalising applications for the post of AMA secretary-general.

The FNLA is a historic party of the National Liberation Struggle, founded by the nationalist Holden Roberto on 10 October 1954.

It is represented in the National Assembly with two deputies, elected in the 2022 general elections.DC/ART/DAN/DOJ
