Benguela - The control of maritime border posts in Benguela province is being boosted with the start of activities Tuesday of the Local Technical Unit of the new Border Coordinated Management Committee (CGCF) in Angola.
For this, the director of the General Tax Administration's Anti-Fraud Service and secretary of the Central Technical Unit of the said committee, Braúlio Fernandes, inherently sworn in the Regional director of the 4th Tax Region of the AGT, Milton Costa, as coordinator of the body in Benguela.
The duties of sub-coordinator of the same unit were given to the provincial director of the Migration and Foreigners Service (SME), Lobo do Nascimento, while the local sub-unit of Lobito is coordinated by the head of the Customs Delegation of the Port of Lobito, Marlon Lourenço, assisted by the head of the SME at that port unit, Rosário Fernando.
According to the provincial coordinator of the Coordinated Border Management Committee, Milton Costa, the activities of the Local Technical Unit are focused on improving control at sea border crossing points in the region, particularly at the port of Lobito, which has a higher flow of imported goods.
Milton Costa explained that the CGCF was created to unify all the bodies that have been acting at the borders, noting that this combination of synergies would speed up the process of border control along the coast and ensure greater internal coordination.
"The information that AGT holds about some imported goods, when synchronised with the origin information that comes from the SME, ends up making the actions of all bodies very effective and assertive," said the director of the Regional Service of the 4th Tax Region of AGT.
