Luanda - Angolan writer and filmmaker Henrique Sungo has been nominated for the current edition of the Multicultural Business & Community Champion (MBCC) awards in the United Kingdom for the second consecutive year, in the category of 'Rising Star'.

The event's awards gala is scheduled for the month of November, and the national author is nominated for his contribution to cinema and literature.

The Multicultural Business & Community Champion (MBCC) award, created in 2016, designates rising stars for people with a significant impact in the field of activity and who inspire others to the community.

Speaking to ANGOP, the writer said that it is a great satisfaction to be recognized for the performance in contributing to Angolan culture in that country.

'There were several nominations in the area of literature and cinema, so I feel very happy', he argued.

For Henrique Sungo, this appreciation inspires more people, as well as entrepreneurs in supporting art.

'The impact of this appreciation in Angola as in Africa, in general, are incalculable gains that will serve to wake up African states to look at cinema also as a diversification of the economy, because it can contribute to the collection of revenue for the state coffers,' he added.

The initiative takes place annually in the United Kingdom, attracting more than 450 people, including entrepreneurs and the largest British companies.

Henrique Sungo, a native of the province of Huambo, is the author of the works 'Eating to work and not for taste' 2016, 'The hope of Welwitshia' 2018, 'Odyssey of the zungueira' 2020 and 'My clothes my roots' 2023.

The author has also participated in international collections, in Brazil, with African tales and stories, and in the United Kingdom, on the International Day of Peace. AB/SC/DOJ
