Luanda - Writer Carlos Pedro is the new chairperson of the Executive Committee of the Angolan Youth Literature Brigade (BJLA), elected this Saturday with 107 votes in favour, five null and void.
The vote lasted two hours and was held in Luanda in-person and with the help of new technology platforms in other provinces of the country.
This election broke the 33-year period without a general meeting to renew mandates, which, according to the statutes of this body, is held every two years.
The new BJLA leaders include Carlos Pedro, President of the Executive Committee, Nilton André "Avó Ngola Avó", General Secretary, and Martinho Mbangula, Chairman of the General Assembly.
Speaking to Angop, Carlos Pedro made it known that one of his missions is to fight to formalise the legalisation of the brigade, as well as to work with the members of the association so that they can present their talent both inside and outside the country.
Regarding the voting, he said it was very pleased with the correspondence from colleagues from Luanda and the other provinces, as they all voted for the need for the BJLA to mark a very important step in its history.
"We will count on all the living forces of the brigade and our elders, who have just ceased, as we will set up a committee of honour, where every time we need support we ask for it," he said.
