Lubango – At least 88 scientific, cultural, musical and environmental works were registered, from 2021 to 2023, by the National Service for Copyright and Related Rights (SENADIAC), in the province of Huíla, ANGOP learned, on Wednesday, in Lubango.
Based on this aforementioned number, 57 are intellectual and 31 are musical and environmental, all produced by national authors and are now protected, defended and have the guarantee of intellectual property.
Interviewed by ANGOP, the SENADIAC's representative in Huíla, Joaquim Bernardo “Lélé”, considered that the figure is still small, depending on the market it represents, as some authors are avoiding recognizing their work.
He highlighted that SENADIAC's mission is to register and disseminate matters, as well as maintain the functioning of the national system of copyright and related rights, as well as disseminate knowledge and highlight the importance and usefulness of protecting intellectual property.
According to the source, paragraph 1 of article 89, of Law No. 15/14, of 31 July and 29 July, sanctions with fines those who violate the rules on the use of intellectual works or those who fail to respect the authors rights.
He reinforced that the function of control is materialized through articles 25 and 26 of Law No. 15/14, of 31 July on works, entities for the collective management of copyright and the exercise of activities by economic agents.
“In the registration process, each act must pay a fee that SENADIAC charges based on the table for the protection of copyright and related rights and everyone who has works must do so, under penalty of, in the case of infringement, not the offender is held responsible”, - he said.
He reaffirmed the commitment to create an inspection team in bookstores and literary associations, with the aim of locating works that have not yet been registered, in order to do so as quickly as possible. JT/MS/CF/DOJ
