Huambo - The second edition of the International Book Biennial, scheduled for 2025 in Luanda Province, is expected to reflect the 50 years of National Independence and the historical achievements of Angolan heroes, ANGOP learned on Wednesday.
The information was provided by the spokesman of the event in Angola, Nituecheni Africano, noting that the decision was taken by the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (Brazil), as organizer of the activity.
Nituecheni Africano, who is a writer as well, also explained that the International Book Biennial, whose first edition took place from the 11th to the 18th of this month, in virtual format, values African literature and encourages the use of this tool to promote sustainable development of the African continent.
Therefore, he encouraged Angolans to participate in this event, to boost and mature local literature in the different approaches to social, cultural, anthropological and linguistic life, to strengthen democracy and consolidate peace.
The first edition of the International Book Biennial was attended by 80 countries, 11 exhibitors and 258 national and international authors.
The event honoured the first President of Angola, António Agostinho Neto, and the centenary of António Jacinto do Amaral Martins, former Minister of Culture of Angola between 1975 and 1978.
