Luanda – A total of 5 Angolan films were exhibited on Saturday at the “7th art” room at West Norwood Picturehouse, at the Pan African International Film Festival in London.
According to a press release, the films displayed were “For Jade”, by Baruch Nsangu, “The Barber”, by Ngouabi Silva, “Nayola” (3D animation), by José Ribeiro, and the documentaries “Mona Wazediwa”, by Henrique Sungu and “Ondjélua”, by Eurico Pereira were displayed.
Invited to address those present, the Consul General of Angola in London, Luzia Dias dos Santos, thanked the organizers of the initiative and considered the choice of the country as the Festival's theme to be very gratifying.
The diplomat highlighted that the event is an opportunity to publicize the potential of Angola's cultural products and to exchange ideas about the present, past and future of Angolan cinema from the perspective of the diaspora.
The London International Pan African Film Festival running from October 18 to 25 decided, in this 2024 edition, to choose “Angola” as the central theme of the event, to highlight the film production made by Angolans overseas.
It is an annual cinematographic event held in the capital of the United Kingdom, organized by the London International Pan African Film Festival Commission Association, with the aim of promoting African cinema and allowing the public to discover the cinema of each African country.
After highlighting the Democratic Republic of Congo in the 1st edition, this year a close-up on the Republic of Angola was highlighted, called “Angola Focus”, to allow the sale and promotion of the image and culture of Angola to the British public.
