Luanda - Agostinho Neto University (UAN) Wednesday in Luanda signed a cooperation agreement with the Operational Office of the New International Airport (GONAIL).

The deal provides for the airport sustainability initiatives aimed to turn the unit into a green airport.

Struck the deal UAN’s vice chancellor for scientific affairs José Nóbrega and José Lopes, in representation of the latter.

"Green Airports" are airports whose basic precondition is the importance of environmental sustainability in the airport sector, as a way of meeting society's growing demand for structures in harmony with the environment.

The environmental certification standards that lead to Green Airport title are to identify the certifying entities and certification criteria.

This includes reporting on airports involved in these certification processes and other initiatives that encourage or guide the adoption of sustainable practices in these locations.

According to the Vice chancellor, the project will be implemented by engineering students to ensure the study on the environmental impacts.

In turn, the representative of GONAIL said that the new international airport is located in an area with a lot of vegetation, allowing the adjustment and protection of fauna and flora.

Still, during the ceremony, the UAN signed an agreement with the Orquestra Sinfónica de Angola, which provide for the training for music teachers and open the University's band.
