Icolo e Bengo - The Directorate of Education, in the municipality of Icolo e Bengo, Luanda province, received this school year, 1,200 new school desks to fill the shortage of educational institutions, ANGOP learned today.
According to the director of Education in the municipality of Icolo e Bengo, Lopes Famoroso, the desks, mostly double-seated, were donated by local businessmen and the embassy of the Republic of China in Angola, allowing more convenience to students.
The Chinese embassy donated 200 desks of the total received (1,200), facilitating the equipment of schools with greater need in the municipality, specifically in two schools located in the centralities of 44 and Zango 8000.
'We think that the efforts of local businessmen and institutions are to be commended and we encourage other organizations to mobilize as well, and the little coming from various sources becomes a lot', said the manager.
The municipality of Icolo e Bengo, 62 kilometers from the center of the city of Luanda, has in this 2024/2025 school year 81,822 students enrolled, from initiation to the second cycle of secondary education, distributed in 76 public schools and provided by one thousand and 209 teachers.
Icolo e Bengo has an estimated population of 149,052 inhabitants, distributed in a territorial area of 3,819 square kilometers. CLAU/AJQ/DOJ
