Luanda - Angola Airlines, TAAG, recently resumed full operation of the Luanda/Lisbon/Luanda route with its Boeing 777-300ER aircraft, putting an end to the partnership it had with Portuguese airline Hifly since 2022, ANGOP learnt Tuesday.

In June 2022, the national flag carrier signed a ‘wet lease’ contract with Hifly, which provided an Airbus A330 aircraft with its crew, strengthening the connection between Angola and Portugal from two to three daily frequencies.

According to the chairman of TAAG's Executive Committee, Nelson de Oliveira, who was speaking to the press last week, the Angolan airline resumed its DTT 5.2 flight, which departs from Luanda at 12.30pm, ending the service provided by the Portuguese private airline, Hifly.

At the time, the manager said that only TAAG will operate flights to Lisbon, both DTT 5.2 and DTT 50, which leaves Luanda at 20.00hours.

Founded in 1938, the national carrier currently flies to 12 domestic and 13 international destinations.

In addition to passenger transport, its fleet also carries cargo, a service that is increasingly essential for the development of the local ecosystem.
