Luanda - Angolan Airlines - TAAG - reaffirmed on Thursday its commitment to promote tourism and products made in Angola, in order to contribute to the economic diversification of the country.

This commitment was made by the company's CEO, António dos Santos Domingos, during the inauguration ceremony of the first Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft, from a series of four acquired by TAAG, stressing that the company's commitment is accompanied by a process of modernization.

Antonio Domingos said that the reinforcement of TAAG's fleet with the Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner is a milestone that requires greater professionalism towards customers and partners.

The charge d'affaires of the U.S. Embassy in Angola, James Story, expressed the continued support and closer relationship between Boeing and TAAG in areas such as digitalization, aircraft maintenance and risk mitigation.

With a capacity of 313 passengers, the aircraft from the United States of America (USA) landed on Angolan soil with 50 passengers, including the crew and the board of directors of TAAG.

The aircraft, named "Namibe", will initially operate intercontinental flights (Portugal and Brazil) and is characterized by a high level of comfort, technology and interior design.

From an operational point of view, it is an efficient aircraft in terms of fuel consumption and environmental sustainability, with a 25 percent reduction in carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions compared to the previous generation.

TAAG has been in existence for 86 years and is the leading company in the Angolan aviation market, recognized worldwide, with sustained growth.

It currently has a fleet of 22 aircraft, including Dash 8-Q400 (6 aircraft), Boeing 737-700 (7), Boeing 777-200 (3), Boeing 777-300 (5) and an A220-300, and flies to 12 domestic and 11 international destinations.

Boeing is a global aerospace leader that designs, manufactures and services commercial airplanes, defense products and space systems for customers in more than 150 countries.

The company's partnership with Angola dates back some 50 years, with the arrival of the first Boeing 737-200 in the country in 1976. ACC/ASS/AMP
