Luanda - The implementation of the Informal Economy Reconversion Programme (PREI) has allowed the creation of more than 3,000 jobs, since November 16, 2021 to the present date.

The above figure is a result of the provision of 2,775 micro-credits, estimated at 2 .6 billion kwanzas.

The programme also allowed some 200, 000 commercial operators moved from the informal to the formal circuit.

Of this number, more than 50% are young people aged between 15 and 40, according to the Minister of State for Economic Coordination, Manuel Nunes Júnior.

Delivering his speech at lying ceremony of foundation stone for the construction of the first building to support the formalization of economic activities in the Catinton market, in Luanda, the official attributed the achievements to the support from the partners of the Government of Angola, such as the European Union (EU) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).

On the occasion, the Minister of State clarified that the assistance from the European Union falls within the scope of the Budget Support Convention, signed  in December 2020, while the UNDP provides essential technical support to the Angolan Government, which allowed the implementation of the PREI

According to Manuel Nunes Júnior, the consolidation and expansion of PREI will have satisfactory results for families and for the country in general.

With this, he added, the Angolan Government will continue with its commitment to ensure the complete implementation of the PREI, working firmly to dignify entrepreneurs and make the country's economy increasingly efficient and developed.
