Luanda - The President of the Republic, João Lourenço, said today that the management of recovered assets, such as the supermarket chains Kero and Nosso Super, was delivered in a licit manner to the winners of the public tender.

According to the Head of State, who was speaking to the media, the process obeyed the due observation deadlines, and the winners were the companies that showed capacity to meet the requirements for the operation of those facilities.

João Lourenço said that, contrary to what was being said, there was no indication of favouritism to the winners, proof of which is that they have already started operating.

This process, he said, had also happened with the textile factories of Cazenga, in Luanda, Benguela, and Dondo, in Kwanza Norte province, as it was important that they remained operational in order to provide jobs.

In relation to the container terminals at the ports of Luanda and Lobito, he said that they had not been handed over to anyone on a "platter," making it clear that there had been a public tender.

Joao Lourenço noted, for example, that the terminal at the port of Luanda had been awarded to one of the world's most respected port management companies, via a public tender, whilst the process of design for management of the port of Lobito, in Benguela, he said, was still underway and its winner should be known this year.

In relation to airports, he said that "the new Cabinda airport is being built, whose contractor will be selected following a public tender," and noted that the new Mbanza Congo airport (Zaire) was also the result of a public tender.

The Head of State did not refer to the Cabinda and Soyo (Zaire) refineries, as they were private investments, but noted that Sonangol had a 10 percent stake in the Cabinda refinery and had no shares in the Soyo assets.

In relation to the design for construction of the logistics platforms at Luau (Moxico), Luvu (Zaire), Lombe (Malanje), Caála (Huambo) and Arimba (Huíla), he said that it would be via a public tender, "with better transparency than in the past.
