Luanda - A High Performance Centre for the Oil sector was inaugurated this Tuesday, in Luanda, aimed to strengthen stability in crude oil production and tackle the decline in mature fields, with recourse to artificial intelligence (AI).
The centre, the first of its kind in Angola, will function as a collaboration platform for those involved in the sector of oil, gas and energy, offering innovating solutions in the digital and AI areas.
The project, an initiative of the global technology multinational company SLB, is intended to identify production areas, evaluate problems and give solutions, to stimulate efficiency in the sector.
The institution will work on the project in collaboration with the Angolan Ministry of Mineral Resources. Oil and Gas, as well as the National Agency for Oil and Gas, plus several firms in the sector.
Presiding over the inaugural act of the centre, the minister of Mineral Resources, Oil and gas, Diamantino Azevedo, stressed that the project was drafted to include technical training of young people in different areas.
Set to cater for the entire lifecycle for oil and gas projects in Angola, the centre will also help to reduce production losses.
