Moçâmedes – The National Institute for Support to Small and Medium Enterprises (INAPEM), as part of its program to formalize economic activity, managed to support the legal set up of 60 cooperatives focused on different segments of the economy, from January to June this year, the head of provincial services, Adilson Hach, said this Wednesday.
Speaking to ANGOP, the official said that 36 cooperatives were legalized in the fishing sector, 18 in the agricultural sector, 5 in the mining sector and 1 cooperative in the environmental area.
He explained that, in the first semester, 70 cooperatives were trained in matters of agrarian management, resilience and adaptation to climate change in family farming, in partnership with the provincial office for Integrated Economic Development and the National School of Administration and Public Policy.
“The idea is to allow cooperatives to acquire capabilities to remain consistent in their activities and competitive in the market. However, we monitor the cooperatives regularly, including them in the most different qualification and training modules”, he said.
Adilson Hach announced that in the first half of 2024, INAPEM instructed and sent 34 processes to the Credit Guarantee Fund, of which 15 guarantees have been issued, so far, with a budget valued at 624,515,152 kz (USD1 = 851.8Kz).
He highlighted that the big challenge has been the delay in commercial banks making these amounts available to companies, as so far only two companies in the fishing sector have been effectively financed, with KZ 31, 600,000.
