Icolo e Bengo - The Angolan drink brand “Gin Axilwanda” received a certificate of recognition at the 3rd International Wine Fair in Belgrade (Serbia) held on November 22-24t, ANGOP learned Tuesday.
The information was disclosed by the president of the Angola-Serbia Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Massunga Henriques, adding that one of the goals of the participation has been achieved, which was to include one of the products among the best drinks brands in the world.
“At the moment, Axilwanda Gin is in the book of the best drinks in the world,” he said, adding that the internationalization of the brand and consequent recognition is a great achievement.
The fair is considered by some industry critics to be “one of the biggest in Europe”, with 650 exhibitors from more than 30 countries taking part and more than 900 wine and spirits labels being evaluated.
Angola was represented by three drinks brands, namely “Axilwanda Gin”, “Maruvu” (palm oil beverage) and “VINUL” wine.
According to Massunga Henriques, the organizers considered the national gin to be one of the best at the event and awarded it the certificate of sensation drink.
The drink's producer, businessman Manuel Bastos, said the recognition is the result of a lot of hard work and that from now on his efforts would consist of adjusting to global market trends to become a benchmark in the sector.
He said that production is based on local spices, namely caxinde tea and Cabinda tree.
