Menongue - The General Labour Inspectorate (IGT) in Cuando Cubango this month closed two companies, in Menongue, that operated in the area of production and processing, due to lack of working conditions and hygiene, as part of ongoing “decent work operation”.

It is a bakery and a company that operates in the manufacturing industry.

Speaking to ANGOP on Monday, the head of IGT's provincial services in Cuando Cubango, Martins Livimba, said that 31 companies were selected and so far 12 have been visited, of which nine were fined six million kwanzas.

He informed that, of the infractions found, there was also the lack of registration of workers in the National Social Security System, as well as the lack of personal protective equipment for workers and the excess of the workload.

With the sanction imposed, the inspector hopes that the affected companies will create better working conditions, in order to promote the protection and good performance of workers.

The “decent work operation” was set up to visit companies that carry out trade and manufacturing activities, with greater emphasis on those run by Chinese, Vietnamese and South Korean nationals.

During this process, which began on the 3rd of this month, inspections will be carried out on labour issues, tax situation, registration of workers in the social security system, migratory acts, as well as financial crimes.

The action is coordinated by the General Labour Inspectorate (IGT), together with the National Institute of Social Security (INSS), General Tax Administration (AGT), Migration and Foreigners Service (SME), Criminal Investigation Service (SIC) and the National Police. LMZ/FF/PLB/DOJ
