Luanda - The Angolan Government signed today, Tuesday, with the World Bank (WB) and the French Development Agency (AFD), four financing agreements valued at USD 1.867 million.

These are the agreements on the "Development Policy Operation (Budget Support)," "Luanda Bita Water Supply Guarantee Project," "Electricity Sector Improvement and Access Project," and "Girls' Empowerment and Learning for All Project (PATT II).

The documents were initialled by Angola's Finance Minister, Vera Daves, the World Bank's regional director for Angola, Jean Christoph Carret, and the director of the French Development Agency (AFD), Souchet Louis-Antoine.

The USD 700 million Development Policy Operation (Budget Support) aims to support the Angolan government to achieve more sustainable and inclusive growth, by strengthening the country's macro-financial and institutional environment and increase financial and social inclusion.

The USD 500 million Luanda Bita Water Supply Guarantee Project aims to improve access to drinking water service in selected areas of Luanda by mobilising USD one million of commercial funding for the government of Angola.

This project plans to improve piped water service to at least one million people in the rapidly growing unserved urban and peri-urban belts to the south of Luanda, with the capacity to serve up to two million people in the coming years.
