Benguela – France is interested in promoting business partnerships in the sectors of maritile transport and ports in the Lobito Corridor, the counsellor of the French Embassy in Angola, Bainoil Catuhes, has disclosed.
In 2023, the Lobito Port, one of the infrastructures in the mentioned Corridor, became a Landlord Port, after a concession contract for the port’s cargo terminal signed with the French company Africa Global Logistics (AGL).
One of the goals of the exploration concession for 20 years is to make the Lobito Port gain a professional management that incorporates the best international practices, so that it can become a reference in Africa, especially in the southern region.
Speaking in the end of a visit of a French business mission linked to the area of logistics and port transport, Bainoil Catuhes said that the expectation is that maximum gain will be obtained from the potential of the Lobito Corridor.
In this ambit, he announced the promotion of entrepreneurial partnerships to attract French companies to the Lobito Corridor.
He seized the occasion to announce the holding of a France/Angola Business Forum, which is being planned for January 2025.
In turn, the executive administrator for human rights, infrastructures and logistics of the Lobito Port, Romão de Andrade, highlighted the importance of the French business mission to Angola, which is aimed to strengthen the commercial and entrepreneurial relations, mainly with French entrepreneurs in the sectors of maritime operations and agribusiness.
