Luanda - The Angolan State gained 6.5 billion kwanzas in dividends from the Public Business Sector (SEP), for the 2023 economic year, which represents an increase of 197.8% compared to 2022 (2.2 billion kwanzas), the minister of Finance, Vera Daves de Sousa said on Wednesday, in Luanda.

According to her, who was speaking at the presentation session of the State Asset Management Institute (IGAPE)’s Report, the difference between the amounts collected and those disbursed by the State, around 207.7 billion kwanzas, must continue to have the full attention of public sector companies.

The minister explained that the figure is the result of the expansion of this sector, resulting from the asset recovery process and the implementation of public policies, which went from 88% in 2021 to 94% in 2022.

To Vera Daves, the current time requires a redoubled effort to make companies financially autonomous and relieve as much as possible, the charges to the State, as it constitutes a permanent source of tax risk.

She advocated that companies always observe the assumptions of efficiency as the main objective of the sustainability of their operations, to better contribute to legal management.

He also highlighted the need to eliminate the constraints identified within the scope of the SEP, aiming to reduce the number of public companies by 2025, to relieve the state's functions as regulator, supervisor and shareholder, to focus on achieving commercial profits.

The Angolan public sector is made up of 94 companies, of which 82 are eligible for accountability.

The report presents accounts from 70 institutions.

However, at the time, the Public Business Sector magazine, called "SEP", was launched, which according to Vera Daves, it will contribute to the dissemination of information and the promotion of good practices, transparency and corporate development.
