Luanda - National producers from various sectors are preparing to exhibit national products at the Intra-African Trade Fair (IATF-2021), taking place from 15 to 21 November in Durban, South Africa.
In the second roadshow - held this Thursday, organised by Afreximbank, in collaboration with the African Union and the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) - were shown business opportunities that are participating in the event.
At the opening of the event, the director-general of the Intra Africa Trade Initiative, Kanayo Awani, lamented the fact that trade between African countries was very weak, calling for a greater use of opportunities, within the framework of the opening of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCTFA).
At the continental level, trade represents less than 6% of the total carried out on a global scale, a figure that demonstrates the failure to take full advantage of opportunities.
According to Kanayo Awani, if the AfCTFA agreement is implemented, there will be a revolution in trade at the level of markets, as well as the transformation of its manufacturing structure, which will allow the reduction of dependence on external factors. ~
"Africa has to increase intra-African trade, which will lead to economic development, after covid-19", said the expert who is a senior staff at Afreximbank.
At Afreximbank level, it has guaranteed support for intra-African trade, based on the most varied existing products, so that trade can flow.
Running from 15 to 21 November in Durban, KwaZulu Natal, the forum is expected to reach US$40 billion in trade and investment negotiations, 1,100 exhibitors, as well as 5,000 conference participants.
The event, whose motto is "Building Bridges for a Successful AfCFTA", will bring together continental and global players to showcase their products and services, and explore business and investment opportunities on the continent.
