Luanda - The Angolan Secretary of State for Oil and Gas, José Barroso, and the Namibian minister of Mines and Energy, Tom Alweendo, on Monday in Luanda analyzed the content of the Memorandum of Understanding signed more than a year ago, between the National Fuel Society of Angola (SONANGOL) and the National Petroleum and Ports Company of Namibia.
The document focuses on the development of a logistics operations center in Namibia similar to the Sonangol Integrated Services Logistics Center (SONILS).
The meeting between the two government officials took place before a guided visit by the Namibian minister to the SONILS facilities, which was also attended by the Namibian ambassador to Angola, Patrick Nandago.
By the way, the secretary of State for Oil and Gas, José Barroso, stated that the visit served to analyze what was agreed, as well as to look at the advantages that the Angolan logistics center can provide to Namibia.
“From this moment on, we will increase the level of evaluation and the official integration of the two ministries so we can make the deal happen”, he explained.
In turn, minister Tom Alweendo justified the signing of the agreement with the recent discovery of oil off the coast of Namibia, hence the need to build an oil base in that country, in partnership with SONILS.
