Luanda - The Angolan government and the private company Ndumba will sign an agreement for mining prospecting in Lucapa, Lunda Norte province, during the 31st International Mining Conference and Exhibition "Mining Indaba 2025" in Cape Town, South Africa.
The information was disclosed Thursday by the National Director of Mineral Resources, Paulo Tanganha, at the press conference to present Angola's participation program in the event, which will take place from February 3 to 6.
According to the source, the agreement aims to explore an area of 274 square kilometers and will involve an investment of 6.4 million US dollars.
The forum, Tanganha said, will serve to present the business environment of the mining sector, the geological-mining potential and investment opportunities in Angola.
The creation of partnerships between Angola and private operators, as well as the exchange of knowledge on environmental and social sustainability, are also on the agenda of the Angolan delegation to the event.
"We want to attract large and small companies in order to improve operations in the sector," he said.
Paulo Tanganha considered the event to be fundamental and a contribution to achieving the goal of 17 carats by 2017.
The Angolan delegation to Africa's largest mining investment event will be led by the Minister of Mineral Resources, Oil and Gas, Diamantino de Azevedo, and will include senior officials from the Ministry, mining companies and the Angolan Embassy in South Africa.
It will bring together mining professionals, investors and industry leaders and will serve as a privileged venue for networking and negotiation.
Discussions will focus on best practices across the mining value chain, including licensing, resource management and value addition.
The Mining Indaba is an international mining conference held annually in South Africa with the aim of attracting investment into the mineral sector in African countries.ML/ASS/AMP
