Luanda - The head of the Inspection and Analysis Department of the Data Protection Agency (APD) José Quiombo encouraged Wednesday, public and private companies to register their data in the agency to mitigate the effects of possible cyber attacks.
Speaking at the third edition of the SUMMIT Angola, the head of the APD said many companies do not invest in cyber security and use outdated operating systems, such as XPC and windows7, with exception of the banking sector.
This fact, Quiobo said, makes them vulnerable, facilitating the success of attacks.
“Attacks will always occur, but the way in which the institution protects itself will determine whether it is successful or not”, he said.
José Quiombo said the APD has a computer system for discovering attempted cyber attacks and that if the attack is successful, the agency has procedures to reduce the impact of the damage and ensure continuity of service.
The Data Protection Agency helps all registered on how to protect them to avoid personal data from being leaked.
The company receives hard copy data in person and through its website.
The third edition of SUMMIT Angola 2023 promoted by the CyberSecur on October 11 and 12 is an event on corporate investigation and cyber security in Angola.
