Luanda - The public tribute to Ângelo Victoriano and the presence of Bruno Fernando marked the atmosphere in the fourth game of the play-off, the best of five, of the final of the National Senior Men's Basketball Championship of the first division, which culminated in the Petro de Luanda victory over Interclube by 81-67.
In the challenge, played in the Cidadela pavilion, the moment of tribute to Ângelo Victoriano, who died in Luanda, on February 13th, victim of illness, was announced.
A frame was placed on the games court with the photo of that reference of the sport in Angola, hand-painted and signed by several individuals from the country.
Ângelo Victoriano, who won eight African champion titles with the national team, is the second Angolan member of the “Hall of Fame” since 2023, after Jean Jacques da Conceição, distinguished in 2013 by FIBA-World.
Then, the almost seven thousand spectators present at the Cidadela pavilion gave a standing ovation to the current greatest figure in Angolan basketball, Bruno Fernando.
On vacation in the country, the player watched the game from beginning to end, being frequently requested for photos by athletes, former players and other personalities.
The only Angolan to play in the NBA, playing for the Atlanta Hawks, fulfills a work schedule, following which he was received at an audience by the Ministry of Youth and Sports.
