Luanda - Petro de Luanda is among the 10 associations competing for the prize of the best of the year, known as CAF Awards 2022, whose winner will be known on 21 July in Rabat (Morocco).
In the recently ended season, the "petrolíferos" won the National Championship (Girabola2021/22), the Angolan Cup, and reached the semi-finals of the League of African Champion Clubs.
The Angolan team had two historic records, the first being the return to the semi-finals of the African Club League, after 2001, and the second, the regaining of the Girabola title, lost in 2010.
In the semi-finals of the African club competition, Petro de Luanda were knocked out by Moroccan side Wydad, with a home defeat (1-3) and a draw (1-1).
Founded on 14 January 1980 (42 years), Petro have in their history eight participations in the said competition, besides another six in the African Confederation Cup.
