Luanda – Angola’s Petro de Luanda basketball team face Mali’s AS Police on Tuesday in the opening game of group B of the African Basketball Club League (BAL) taking place in Kigali, Rwanda.
The Angolan team led by the Brazilian José Neto, seek the third continental trophy.
The group played two pre-season games beating on Friday, the Patriots of Rwanda by 60-54, and lost, Saturday, to Zamalek of Egypt, by 76-78.
The BAL is being jointly organized by FIBA-Africa and the NBA.
The tournament is being contested by 12 teams, in three series, with eight teams going through to the second phase.
Angola’s 1º de Agosto are the current champions and most crowned African team with nine titles.
