Angolan N'hara wins African gold

Lusaka - Angolan swimmer N'hara Fernandes won Thursday the gold medal in the African Championship of Zone IV, taking place in Lusaka, Zambia.

The athlete completed the 50-meter breaststroke with a time of 36.14.

With this mark, achieved in the 90 Days Legacy pool, the athlete improves her own record (37.63), becoming the first Angolan woman to reach the podium of the event.

On the other hand, the Zimbabwean Vhenekai Dhemba ranked second with a time of 36.34, while South African Amber Elsen took bronze with a time of 36.60.

In the other 50-meter breaststroke event, the Angolan Maria Freitas broke the senior national record, with a mark of 35.09, surpassing the previous one (35.41), obtained by Maria Cipcic, in 2013, also in Zambia.
