Luanda - The minister of Youth and Sports, Rui Falcão, on Wednesday in Luanda guaranteed that there are financial conditions for the holding of the 4th edition of the African Youth Games, in the country, scheduled for December 2025.

Speaking to the press, after signing the memorandum to host the youth competition in Angola, the government official, who did not specify the amount available for the event, stated that the resources will come from the General State Budget (OGE), within the scope of the the activities for the 50th anniversary of the country's independence, which was proclaimed on 11 November 1975.

He added that the country has been working for some time to hold a successful race, both from an organizational point of view and regarding the sporting result, with infrastructures in place for the race.

For Rui Falcão, the choice of Angola as host is due to good national sports diplomacy in Africa, as well as the involvement of Angolans in the development of sport and the results achieved internationally.

He clarified that before the games, the country will host African competitions, as a way of preparing the athletes, who will use the same venues, in order to have a dignified performance.

The African Youth Games began in 2010 in Rabat, Morocco. The second edition was held in 2014, in Gaberone, Botswana and the last edition was in 2018, held in Algiers.
