Luanda - The Disciplinary Board of the Angola Football Federation has decided not to apply any sanction to Sagrada Esperança for having abandoned the pitch for 20 minutes in the last game of the championship.
The position is stated in statement number 31 of the FAF dated of August 5, which stresses that the infractions and violations of the laws of the game and FAF regulations are primarily sanctioned by the referees and approved, or aggravated, by the discipline council.
According to the FAF statement that reached ANGOP, there is no legal criterion to punish the team contained in the rules, given that the match was resumed and concluded, therefore, any punitive effects that could result from that abandonment are inapplicable.
The disciplinary council penalized Sagrada Esperança, due to the behavior of the team’s supporters, who tore and threw chairs on the field, in protest to a decision by the refereeing team.
The club was punished with an aggravated fine of five thousand UCF (Financial Correction Unit, one UCF is equivalent to 88 kwanzas), being barred access to the team’s supporters in the next match of the team along with a compensation to the Angolan State, in the payment of all damages resulting from the destruction of equipment of the stadium.
In the 30th and last round of Girabola2021, the players of Sagrada Esperança withdrew from the field, in protest to a penalty kick in favor of Petro de Luanda, having returned to the game 20 minutes later to reach a 1-0 victory that made them national champions.
Sagrada finished with a total of 70 points, followed by Petro 67and 1º de Agosto 64 in third, while Baixa de Cassanje, (32 points), Santa Rita, (29 pts) and Ferrovia do Huambo (disqualified) were relegated.
