Luanda - Eighteen athletes are representing the national swimming team ahead of the African Zone IV Championships, to be held from 14 to 18 April, in Lusaka city, Zambia.
These are the swimmers Marco Furtado, Filipe Freitas, Rafael Bredel, Alex Fortes, Djamel Pires, David Padre, José Cochofel, Emanuel Lutango and Yusseni Furtado (men).

Among the summoned athletes, Maria Freitas who won, last year in Gaberone, two gold medals in the 100m breaststroke (1 min. 24s. 73d), in the 200m breaststroke (3 min.2s.03d), besides two bronze medals in the 50m breaststroke (33ss.84d) and in the 200m backstroke (2m.44s.01d) in women.
For men, the highlight goes to Filipe Freitas who twice won silver medals in the 200m breaststroke (2m. 44s.4d) and in the 200m strokes (2m:30s.68d) and Rafael Bredel who won silver in the 50m butterfly (31.42) also in the last edition, where Angola occupied the eighth position.
The goal is to improve on the eighth place and hope that the athletes can overcome their respective marks.
The technical team also includes assistant coaches Heleto Dala and Engrácia Cardoso.
