Luanda - Petro de Luanda beat Interclube 92-71 on Tuesday in the first game of the national senior men's basketball championship final, living up to the favoritism that is attributed to them in the five-match play-off.
Petro de Luanda started the game poorly and ended the first period with a 10-point deficit (18-28), but had an overwhelming second quarter in which they outscored their opponents 28-13 going ahead (46-41) in the half time.
In the second half, the experience of the Petro de Luanda players came up leaving Interclube with no arguments to counter them.
The imbalance registered in the third quarter set the course of events with Petro scoring 31 points putting the result at 19 points difference (77-58).
Petro de Luanda point guard Carlos Morais was the top scorer of the game with 19 points.
The second match takes place on Thursday.
