Lubango - Twenty referees started today, Sunday, in Lubango, Huila province, a training course to update handball rules, an initiative of the Angolan Handball Federation (FAA) Refereeing Council.

The four-day event aims to train referees so that they can impose themselves in the national context and beyond, besides contributing to the exercise of judging without influence.

Speaking to the press in Huila on the sidelines of the training session, Francisco Luzendo, a member of the federation's supervisory council for arbitration, said the aim was to improve the quality of arbitration based on 18 established rules.

"It is necessary that Huila, similarly to Luanda, provides good referees who will emerge in national competitions and beyond," he said.

The city of Lubango, Huíla's capital, is hosting the national senior female handball competition from the 9th to the 19th of this month.
