Lubango - Angolan Federation of Handball (FAA) has praised the southern Huila province-based main sport infrastructure facilities, saying that the venues are suitable for the practice of handball in the different categories.
Huila province has four stadiums - Nacional da Tundavala (in rehabilitation), Nossa Senhora do Monte (unworkable), Benfica and Ferrovia, both in operation.
There are also four multipurpose pavilions, three of which operating and one, for national and international competitions, inoperative.
The local undertakings are crucial to boost the sport at national level and host international competitions, said the technical director of FAA, Tony Costa.
Speaking on the sidelines of a two-hour visit of the national handball team to the local government, Tony Costa said that Huila may become the third largest development hub for national handball, after Luanda and Benguela.
He said technical and administrative conditions are being created so that, within a month period, Huila may transformed into the third largest development hub for sport practice.
Angola will face Qatar on January 15 at Borg Al Arab Sports Hall.
The country shares the group C, along with Croatia, Qatar and Japan.
